Seeing that I will be out of town on Friday, I would just like to say thank you to all the veterans and current service Men and women that is on this forum that has made personal sacrifices and has served our country. You are the reason that we are able to have this forum and the right to talk about guns, bows and hunting. Thank you and god bless you and your family's. :thankyou: :thankyou:

I have used a 20-gauge 2-3/4" shells when I had some shoulder problems a few years ago, it worked well as long as they was in close.

I heard that the Gander Mountain store in Johnson City, N.Y. is not going to reopen after the flood. Anyone know if this is true?

The good part of this thread is, I think that we all learned something good from all the remarks that have been made.

Thomposn Center Encore Pro Hunter
Moosemaple replied to eagle rider's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I have a T/C encore pro hunter in 308 and I just picked up a 280 Rem, my son has the 30-06, my grand son has a T/C Venture 30-06. All 3-of us had our bucks last year by 9:00 A.M. on opening day. I can't wait to try the 280-Rem this year. -
Thanks guys and girls for the advise I will be sure to check everything that you suggested. He has stated that we can use our 4-wheelers. We will defiantly check with what ever land owners that are in the area, great idea.

Hi Pygmy, That's what I thought, not only is he stating that it is good deer hunting but is also prime turkey hunting. It is located near Arnot Forest and has been posted for the last several years. My Son and I are going to look it over tomorrow.

Does anyone have any idea on what the cost is to lease hunting land per acre. I have never leased land before, but I have a farmer in Schuyler county that has 85 acres to lease for a year at $10.00 per acre, with the option to renew the lease year to year. Is there anything special that I should be asking about?

You get what you pay for.....

I would suggest a Thompson Center Venture in 30-06 or 308. This is a great gun for the money and really does shoot 1- moa at 100 yards.

You might want to try the Moose River Plains area, out of Inlet, N.Y. This is real big country but has a lot of areas to hunt from the camp sites. You should take a topo map compass, and a GPS unit with you. There is still a lot of foliage up there, I just got back from a four day early bear hunt..

Thanks everyone I just wanted to be sure. I could not find any information in the regulations guide.

Does any one know if it is legal to carry two guns afield during regular deer season? Both rifles and hand guns center fire are legal in the area's that I hunt, as long as the hand gun barrel is less then 16 inches long. I want to take a hand gun (270) and rifle with me to my ground blind. Where I am set up I can shoot any where from 250 yards and as close as 25 yards.

Thank you, I am headed to the super market. This recipe sounds excellent, I will let you know.

Could someone please tell me how to fry green tomatoes? My mother used to fry them but I never paid any attention to how she did it. I think she used to put some kind of batter on them and then fry them in butter.
