  1. Thank You ALL for the comments and well wishes. The only thing I am NOT liking so much is the STINKY diapers ! :'( Other than that, this is absolutely fantastic !
  2. Sab,I am NOT a guide or an outfitter in any way. Just a guy that loves to hunt deer in the swamp. If you would be interested in heading to western NY, I would be happy to show you around here. I offer this as a NO CHARGE, service. You supply your own stand or blind, and I will show you around some very nice areas. You make the decision on where you want your stand or blind. I will take you in and show you around, and you are welcome to hunt with myself and the three boys. Or on your own. You make the call. THe invite is open if you would like to come this way and hunt. Bill
  3. On Friday, Donna (wife) and I had to make a trip back to Ohio. Seems that our son's ex-girlfriend, whom he had a child with, has become homeless. > So, instead of the state taking my grandson into there custody, we went down there and she signed over custody to us. He is 1 1/2. ;D About 3 years ago, we were awarded custody of our 1 year old grandaughter. Now 4 yrs old. ;D Man I love this being retired stuff. I get to raise (2) wonderful grand children, and actually get to spend time with them instead of being at work all the time. Only thing I foresee a problem with is when walleye season starts, and I want to be on the water. LOL Guess the little ones will have to learn to fish and drive the boat real young ! I am NOT complaining, just sharing some info.
  4. Condolences on the passing of your mom. It is so hard to lose a loved one. Bill and Family
  5. Congrats on the addition to the family. The sleepless nights are all worthwhile, once they start smiling at you.
  6. WOW ! ! Couple wall hangers there ! lol
  7. Very nice pictures. Very cool when you can sneak up that close to them.
  8. I found this site sometime back, they have all kinds of animal sounds that can be downloaded free. Have a look : http://www.western-rivers.com/Links-and-Downloads.asp?Agree=1 Great site for all you crow hunters and predator callers.
  9. I bought a CVA Wolf in .50 cal. inline (209 primer) with a 3x9 Tasco on it. Can I get some suggestions as to what type and weight bullet and the type of powder I should be using to achieve my best results? Do I want to go with a really heavy bullet ? And max out the powder charge? 100-150 grains? More? I always shoot from a rest, or use a bipod. I can't hold steady any more without it. I figure it is better for me to ask here, rather than just go at it blind. Thanks in advance, Bill

    CVA?

I bought a CVA Wolf 209 when I traded in my Mag 10. Not the fanciest gun in the rack, but, it sure gets the load down range where I want it.
  11. Thank You, now I know more than I did when I asked that question.
  12. OK Gents, what is an MU plug?
  13. This is something that is making me scratch my head and question it's legality. Is it considered baiting, if you are hunting a stand of Oak tree's and the acorns are what the deer are feeding on? Would this be considered "natural" browse ? * Not trying to sound like a dumb ass or a smart ass. Just asking a question.
  14. I hunt in there all the time, been hunting it since the early 70's. Still places I haven't been in yet. There are some excellent deer in there, just have to put in the time and effort to locate them and then figure them out. Duck hunters are a big advantage during the early archery season, as they keep the deer moving. Most will even help you drag a deer out of they are there. The State area's are cut into pieces by dikes,(some of them) so it is pretty simple to navigate. The Federal side is a horse of a different color. Your best friend will be your GPS or compass and topo maps. You can use a boat without a motor in some area's. BUT, not everywhere.
  15. I am one of them "soft water" fishermen. I love to fish walleye and perch on Lake Erie, also chase salmon on Lake Ontario. Then steelies in the winter months after deer season, on Niagara River and at Burt (if there is enough water moving)

  17. That bear was a stock killer. Weighed in at 1300 lbs. and over 11 feet .
  18. Sorry, I should have searched for it before posting. Thanks for the heads up.
  19. New York Bill Would Require Gun Registration 2/17/11 A bill in New York would require all gun owners to register their firearms and pay yearly gun ownership fees. Senate Bill 2994, introduced by Senator Eric Adams (D- Brooklyn), requires gun owners to register each firearm currently owned with their local county clerk’s office or local precinct station. The bill also requires that any firearms acquired in the future also be registered with the state, including such information as to where and how the gun was acquired. Take Action! New York sportsmen should contact their state senator and urge them to oppose Senate Bill 2994. . Under the measure, gun owners would be required to provide the serial number of each firearm owned, in addition to their name, address, phone number, and the location where the firearm will be located when not in use. The bill also calls for a fee of $15 for each initial gun registration. In addition, gun owners would face a $10 per year renewal fee for each gun owned. “Not only is this bill an attack on gun ownership rights, it’s a blatant tax on gun ownership,” said Jeremy Rine, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance associate director of state services. “It’s outrageous that the state would try to make citizens register their guns and then make money off of this process.”
  20. After you catch them, be sure to skin them out and enjoy the meat ! Just have to be careful when you remove the oil and castor sac's so it doesn't contaminate the meat.
  21. Took a road trip today. Went for a ride up to Ogdensberg,NY up on the Seaway. (Work related) Left Lockport about 9:30 am and arrived Ogdensburg @ around 1:30 -2:00 pm. Got to see a bunch of deer and turkeys on the way. Sure was cold up there compared to here in Locport. Did manage to see (1) porky up in a tree, so maybe spring is closer than we think. Man there sure is a bunch of open water on the river up there. But, also still a bunch of ice huts out around Allex. Bay. Finally arrived back home around 7:30 pm Long day but, very nice for traveling.
  22. Sure would make an awful batch of cubed deep fried cat fish ! mmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmm good.
