Gthphtm
Went to check out my little buckweat plot and when I got to it all of the tops were eaten off, they did't even get a chance to flower.
SplitG2
it's good they ate it. what was your plan for this plot?
landtracdeerhunter
Buckwheat always seems to be a favorite with deer. Also great for cleaning up ground that has laid fallow for several years. Use to grow it years back for pancake flour.
dave6x6
Buckwheat has a bunch of good qualities that deer hunters can use but having a plot at hunting season to feed and attract deer is not really one of them. A "little" buckweat patch is not going to last past the summer. The good news is i bet the ground is perfect for putting in a late summer annual planting if you til it under. burmjohn
Our buckwheat last year was hosed by the end of summer, but we had planted a mix of things. So once the buck was gone the other things took up the space.
