Brassica Plot

I finally got up to my property this weekend to check the brassica food plot that I planted three weeks ago and I was surprised at how full it looks. This food plot is adjacent to my neighbors field that he hays and backs right up to my pond. Hopefully it attracts some deer later in the season and the deer dont devour it too quickly. I also got to till to other quarter acre plots, fertilized, and planted some no-plow. I even got a chance to do a little fishing in my pond... not a bad weekend!!!

looks real good Pav. those brassicas shouldn't get hit too hard right now, so i think you'll have a nice full crop in time for the frosty weather. No-plow should do good now also, especially since we seem to be out of that super dry weather. If you can get good soil contact, the stuff is almost fool proof. Nice looking bucket-mouth.

Thanks guys... I was thinking about adding the urea next time I head up but im afraid that if it doesnt rain soon after it will burn out the brassica? Not sure what to do???

U have to time it right before a rain. I disc urea in before I plant.

You wont burn the brassicas... and the ones you run over will rebound... just try to spread it without running back and forth.. limit your passes and split is right do it before a rain

right before... this is so you dont lose N to the atmosphere... Those brassicas will take off with some urea! It is look great though.

looks good .. We planted some a few years back and the deer really liked it. The plot was there for most of the season. After the second week of rifle I never went back down, to see how long it lasted. It's good stuff though. Good luck
