growalot
Is coming in nicely after 6 days....got hammered with a all night down pour .... but more seed is popping and braccs starting in...this trail runs the length of property and winds through the middle...half way it takes a 90% turn and ends at the corn field next door....running past a Koi watering pond....I'm considering dropping down some clover in it....right now rye and rape seed.... Pav2704
As usual... your effort and plots are incredible. Makes me wish I was up at my property doing something productive!!! You should have a great season!
growalot
Thanks Pav...Yep I went down this a.m. to feed the chickens and that plot has thickened up tremendously since yesterday morning!...I know the deer are hitting it already because the boys have been barking on and off all night.....that happens until they get use to the sound of deer moving through...and the deer could care less...lol...will really need these plots...I just walked our property line with a logger yesterday...hunting camp next door is having his 12 acres logged...hhhmmm all of our posted signs...on the ground
WesternNY
Growalot... that looks great.... How did you prep your seed bed?
growalot
This is an area that I started working several years ago...I actually wanted to smooth out the old logging trail...Sooo.... over the years I've been liming in the spring and it was disced and harrowed...I've had secret spot here...HSG/clover and trictical....so this was limed... fertilized... disced.... drag ..seed..... harrowed...then top seeded with braccs before some awesome rains.. Two weeks ago I did a select hinge cut of damaged and junk trees(crapy basswood and beech) So there are now a few bedding areas close to that and more light filtering through In fact I just came in from my last discing for the WTI forage Oat field...but rained and I drove home getting a good shower in to boot...my hair should be nice and soft....lol
landtracdeerhunter
Really looks good for an old logging road. With a spot like that, almost have a deer on the board already, come season, lol. Edited August 12, 2012 by landtracdeerhunter
