Fillet Knife

What's your favorite fillet knife...for river smallies, 12-20 inches. I'd need a new one and would appreciate any advice: brand, model, dealer, etc.

I bought a Cabelas Fillet Knife 25 years ago. Came with a sharpening rod, still super sharp and great condition.

Picked up an Alaska Knife Company Fillet knife. Works great, beautiful and holds and extremely sharp edge. I keep it in the door of my truck as a handy tool for any fish caught.

My grandfather gave me a Cabelas knife 30 years ago; it was used when he gave it to me.

Wooden handle is darkened and this finish missing and leather sheath is pretty britle, but it still cuts as good today as it did when it was first given to me.

Look into Forshner knives by Victorinox. They make some nice fillet and boning knives.

I have a couple of those old Normark Rapala knives that I have used for years, don't even know if they still are made, they work good, hold an edge well and don't cost an arm and a leg. They also make great boning knives for butchering deer.

I ended up buying two folding lock-back fillet knives: A Buck with a 6" blade, that is just a little too big and clumsy for me....and, one from Outdoor Edge the Fish 'n Bone, with a 5" blade (has a pocket clip and comes with a belt sheath). I think this Oudoor Edge knive might be just about perfect for my needs.

Got the chance to try out the Outdoor Edge Fish 'n Bone on a limit of Schoharie Creek smallmouth bass(13" - 16") today. It just might be the PERFECT fillet knife for such work. Give it a look....It might be just what you need!

My brother and I both limited out on the Schoharie yesterday: ten nice smallmouths...all filleted quickly and easily with the Outdorr Edge Fish 'n Bone folding fillet knife.
