phade
Was a little shocked to see it, but a road I drive by every couple of days had a few fields mowed down...both fields were in horrible shape, so I am assuming it went to silage. Got p!$$ poor field of corn behind my house that will likely be in the same boat.

WesternNY
The early spring got things planted very early this year.. the drought set things back.... but it is dry as heck now so if the corn is done, and dry might as well harvest it. sampotter
We started chopping tuesday and most of the neighbors started this week too. We shoot for 35% dry matter for silage and when its ready you have to get it before it gets too dry. The warm spring and dry summer made the corn mature a little earlier. We're about a week ahead of normal.
