Is anyone else tired of farmed deer on magazines?

Not sure what this was supposed to mean? 135s are not hard to come by or the broken brow tine.

I would like to see some pics of these 135in 8pts with a broken tine that you say are so easy to find. Heck i would like to even know how many on here have even ever shot a 135in buck. And how many?

Its all about the $...You would not buy a playboy book with susan boyle on the front cover would you? You also know that what you see on the front cover of most girly mags, You will never get but you sure like to look at it. No different in deer. You see something on the cover,(Even though its something we have but you will probably never have) that you like to look at, even though most will never have it. Mind games i guess and plays on emotions.

Yeah, you are talking about the attraction on magazine display cases. I subscribe to all my magazines and no matter what they put on the cover, I subscribe for the content not the cover. But I do understand that they have to consider the magazine rack browser that let's the cover determine their purchase. But you know, even that kind of buyer would eventually get over-saturated with the same kinds of pictures on every hunting mag. But like videos and TV shows and anything of that nature, creativity and imagination are not really their strong suit. So you get what you should expect. Over ... and over .... and over .... and over.

I'm not sure it's necessary to do a call out. It's common knowledge that the average NY buck will score 130-140 at 4 years. Your captive bucks must reach that size at 2?

Oh, I am not calling anyone out by any means!! Your statement of 135in 8 point was very strong and kinda out there. I mean how many guys reading these words have even takin a 135in buck in Ny State. I am no Roger Raglin..lol but i think i can hold my own as a hunter, I have 700 acres of great land to hunt and i hunt some top state land and i only have 3 of that size. Heck i bet many have never seen a true 135in Buck. They are not behind every tree thats for sure!! Now with this AR coming into play we might start seeing a few more of those pop up!

Fyi...My captive bucks better be 130 to 180 inches as yearlings or i would be out of business fast!

They are not behind every tree but I have been fortunate enough to get a chance at something like that nearly every season that I've lived in NY. I live in one of the better regions of NY but there certainly ios plenty of hunting pressure.

Sam- I understand what you are saying. You are talking about pictures that hunters can really relate to. Pictures of deer that we know do actually exist out in the wild, and perhaps even in the woods that we are hunting. That is, instead of some farm raised freak that is kind of a cartoon of a real whitetail. That makes sense to me.

It's difficult to get a good photo of a great wild whitetail.

'Course it's even tougher to kill one.

So, everybody cuts corners...its business...selling images of whitetail bucks...but when you get a good photo or video clip of a wild good buck...there is a lot of satisfaction and I think there there should be a lot of viewer interest from hunters who are tired of all the phony, canned deer-porn.

The problem is that with a state like New York if you were to do the average buck photo it would significantly vary per area of the state. Im from long island and have friends that whack 130 in bucks each year and there have been 2 200 inchers taken here the last 3 years but in my history of hunting i havent seen a deer in the woods hunting over 100 inches. If i were to go towards the finger lakes im sure that would change but my roots are in chenango county.

Whats a monster for one guy is a little bit bigger than average for the next guy. look at some of the avatars on this site im sure most of us on here would pay to go hunt that buck in ohio, iowa, illinois etc.

Just a warning for those that really care where the pictures come from......This months cover shot on Outdoor Lifes cover is a shot of a buck at Apple Creek Whitetails Farm and Ranch!!! He's a brute!!!
