Out behind the house in the ladder for a bit over 2 hours. Got a little wet again, absolutely nothing.

11/21 am 52 degrees north west breeze

Sat for 2.5 hours in my ladder stand behind the house not a thing stirring.

11/21 pm 55 degrees 5 to 15 west wind

Went down into the new ladder stand in the hole. Had a 2 hour sit. Just before 6 I hear something to my left front and see a deer coming out of the thick stuff at about 40 yards. It is working in left to right and I see it is a buck and a shooter. Antlers out past the ears by a couple inches at least and looked like an 8 anyway. He is eating and puttering in the brush after a minute or so he starts heading to a lane. I draw back and baaa to stop him he stops broadside and I watch my arrow sail low and he spins to take off and kinda falls with a front leg and then gets back up and off he goes. No blood on arrow at all, about 5 pieces of hair caught in one blade and one drop of blood on the ground. It went right under his chest and grazed the far leg just a touch. ARRRRRRRRRRRRR

I am thinking I ranged that spot at 32 yards and he was about 5 yards in front of that. Now I am thinking it was 42 not 32, I will not know for certain until I get back and range it. I think I just screwed it up in my head. Ah that stinks!! Glad I just gave him a little cut though and he should be A ok just a bit wiser.

Now my brother is up top oh at least 600 yards from me or so. At nearly the same time he had a real nice 8 sneak up behind him with the wind he did not hear it until it was right there. It came under him at 10 feet and busted him and said seeya.

Well we saw a couple nice bucks and the bucks won!

Pisser after all the hours in stand and finally get a shot and chump it!

Got out for an hour with my son in the tower blind behind the house. Zippidy!

Man all I keep seein in my mind is my arrow going under that buck last night!!

10/23 43 degrees sprinkling

Out behind the house in my ladder stand for 1.5 hours. Man it was a nice morning but no luck.

Gotta coach basketball this eve so back at em tomorrow.

Sounds like my season. It'll pick up soon though. My youngest daughter played bb,through varsity btw,quit her senior year. Nobody was having much fun and she knew she would not play much, just not worth it. Best move she ever made.

My girl is really into the sports. She is doing cross country which ends this week, she is doing rec bball, syracuse select bball and trying out for the cyo bball team, also trying out for vollyball next week. I assistant coach baseball, softball and basketball. Hopefully she will pick one or two she really likes and cut back a bit. She has been on crutches the last couple of days with a banged up foot.

Went down to my old ladder stand in the hole. Another nice morning and zero luck. Sat for 1.5 hours and trimmed a shooting lane before I left.

Out behind the inlaws in my climber for just an hour. The spot I used to sit is getting pretty grown up with saplings and my lanes are getting non existant. I can trim here but not cut saplings down so I am trying to find a better tree. Tonight was not the right tree!! The scrapes I saw here last week have not been freshened. They are also the only 3 scapes I have seen anywhere yet. And not one fresh rub. I have not been tracking around the woods looking, I just slip in and out of my stands but there is usually a few here and there opening up. In my areas I really do not think the bucks are even prerut yet.

Out in the tower stand behind the house for 1.5 hours and zilch. The movement is scarey slow!! I have not even seen a doe in the woods. Man I shoulda had that buck!! lol still haunting me.

Supposed to be 74 for a high the next two days, I doubt that will get things going any better. Guess it is lawn mowing afternoon!

Supposed to cool of for the weekend though. I am going to be out of town for work most of next week. I am bummed my favorite day to hunt is Oct 31 in the evening. That always seems to be a good watch and the 10 days following it..

Out for 2 hours behind the house. Get in my ladder at 6:30 and about 10 minutes later I had one walking around in the brush next to me. By the time it got light it was long gone. That got my hopes up for the sit but to no avail!

10/27 am Out behind the house again. Sat from 6:30 to 11 so 4 hours of hunting time and zip zilch zero.

Going to sit in the deep hole stand for the first time since I missed that nice buck Sunday. As long as it is not pouring anyways.

Sat for a bit over 2 hours it was just beautiful out. And another big zero. So lets see it has been officially 7 days since I have seen a deer and somewhere around 35 hours in the stand during that time. I would add it up but it disgusts me! This has got to be the worst October lull ever!!

Well my trip to Charlotte got cancelled. So dyin to get out all day it looked super out. Got in the new rabbit hole stand. Now named rabbit because one keeps coming out below it. Sat for two hours for sure I was going to see something. Nadda.

Out in my ladder behind the house and another beatiful morning. About 6:40 I hear footsteps which have to be close since it is wet and misty and I have my eyes closed relaxing since it is dark out. One walks by at 14 yards no idea what it was just saw the outline of the back and the white tail. Sat for two hours after sunrise and saw squat.

Excited to get back out tonight. Tonight is one of my favorite nights to bow hunt I have had good luck over the years.

11/1 am 53 drizzle

In stand at 6:30am as usual. In ladder stand behind the house. At 7:15 it is still too dark to shoot and I have been getting rained on. I am asking myself why did I walk right past that tower blind with a roof?!! Stupid. Anyhow at 8 am I have a small 6 point in front of me. He is just walking and eating leaves off the bushes. Goes by at 30 yards. Another week and his kind will be on the list! Sat for two hours after sun up. Still raining and clothes need to go in dryer.

Got hung up at work so I just made the last hour it was raining so I just hopper in the tower blind and stayed dry. Nothing sighted.

I have tomorrow off so I will be in the stand most of the day if it is not pouring.

Well at least the raim was light and off and on. Out behind the house in the ladder stand. Saw one for about 2 seconds cutting behind me about 100 yards out at 8:15am no idea what it was. Sat for 3 hours wondering what is up with the deer! Bro saw zip.

Sat another 2 hours in the rabbit hole fresh tracks and deer droppings in trail to stand. Just not moving during shooting hours. Big zero and bro as well.
