jusputtn
I don't buy the mistaking a holstein for a deer stories. Hunter education became a requirement in the late 1940's, though it focused on safety. It was expanded in the 1970's to include other aspects such as wildlife identification. However, TV has been around the whole time. I find it pretty hard to believe that someone could reach hunting age without at least seeing a cow on TV. Christ, they're even in the circus. The one time I was shot at, it was by a local upstater. Lumping folks into a category based on where they're from indicates little thought expended.

landtracdeerhunter
The neighbors cows were in my acreage grazing, more then the deer, during archery and firearm season. They were never shot. I mention that his fencing needed some repair, he didn't seem to concerned. He then showed me a cam pic of a fair size rack deer; I forgot about the cows.
