Culvercreek hunt club
BTW, the law I am talking about is only for long guns, it does not count with handguns/CCW, etc. you are mixing apples and oranges I think. the Federal law provides protectino from one area that the weapon is legal through an area where it isn't. (Not that NYcity cares about such things...lol) . The paragraph about having ammo seperate is attached to a sub section that does not include our normal hunting long guns or pistols. from what I see. Mine stays in the case....they can kiss my back side.
WNYBuckHunter
Here it is, these guys got the case against the person dismissed, but they make it clear that you CAN be charged for it. It is NY law, not federal, I was mistaken on that part. http://www.newyorkcr...pon-possession/
Culvercreek hunt club
What if.. you shoot a buck, fill out the tag, report the tag, then butcher the deer and package it (if you didn't choose to keep the head to mount) how do they know its a buck and not a doe when you transport it home? are you supposed to keep it's family jewels in another package? They don't know. They require you keep the tag or a copy of the tag with all portions of the meat from the animal. So if you give someone some you are suppose to give them a copy of the tag. Culvercreek hunt club
I know....but it is viewed much differently down there than other places BECASE it is NYC and their local laws. § 265.03 Criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. A person is guilty of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree when: (1) with intent to use the same unlawfully against another, such person: (a) possesses a machine-gun; or ( possesses a loaded firearm; or © possesses a disguised gun; or (2) such person possesses five or more firearms; or (3) such person possesses any loaded firearm. Such possession shall not, except as provided in subdivision one or seven of section 265.02 of this article, constitute a violation of this subdivision if such possession takes place in such person's home or place of business. Criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree is a class C felony. Section: Previous Now that is the section used in the case you cited. No definition of "loaded" is in that statute. WNYBuckHunter
Heres an explanation of it. Seems that you MIGHT get charged for it. LOL, gotta love NY. http://www.newyorkcriminalattorneyblog.com/2009/03/new_york_gun_laws_when_your_un.html Ill just keep mine separate and hope I dont get some picky cop that feels like busting my chops. Id rather spend my money on hunting gear than attorney fees.

BlasterMaster42
Now that my brain has been melted reading all of this legal nonsense, Ill go back to the poop thread.... Exactly!! This is all nonsense!! I love how our government "enforces" the laws, on the people who are doing their damndest to be law-abiding citizens. The criminals dont care what laws there are,, theyre going to do the same bullshit,, laws or not!! I don't know why the government doesnt see it this way. If I clearly tell a police officer, ECO, whatever, that I have an unloaded fire arm, i don't care where the ammo is, I have clearly pointed out any hazards to them. If they want to get picky, and follow word for word what the law book says, then maybe we should petition the state to send everyone to law school so we can completely understand, every article, sub-section, whatever.. I really cant stand the government sometimes..
