For all you Westchester hunters

Westchester is allowing bow hunting for deer in October in certain parks provided that applicants pass a proficiency test by July.

Do they state any where what the proficiency test entails?...Obviously this is just a curiosity question...

the parks here have been allowing hunting for a few years now, I think its a shooting proficiency test, they wanna make sure you can hit something other than the ground

Thanks Deerthug...should have worded that differently...I was wondering the ranges..and whether they were going to have ground level or and stand shooting...I noticed they mentioned stands a lot and even provide ladder stands on a first come bases

3 out of 5 arrows into a 9" plate at 25yds. The testing is at Blue Mountain.

I didnt have to pass any shooting test to get my hunters ed certificate if thats what you mean. Do I think you should have to? Absolutely.

Yes , that's what I was trying to say . I could have sworn that was a requirement when I passed my hunter's ed certificate for bow hunting .This was back in the early 1980's though. Damn......I must be getting senile.
