DMP Tags

Mornin, I picked up my tags today. This is the first time I've done this early, I said I wanted to sign up for DMP Tags. I'm not 100% sure how this works but on the receipt it is showing.

Does that mean I got the tags and can start bow hunting September FIRST?

Yup ... you now have two (2) DMP Tags for 3M ..... congrats ! DMP tags have nothing to do with Bow Hunting but can be used during Bow season . Don't forget hunting with a Bow you can take either Buck or Doe and a DMP is not needed !  As far as I know , hopefully if I'm wrong will somebody correct me ?

Are you sure about the Bucks?

DEC is saying DMP tags are only valid for antlerless deer (have no antlers or antlers less than 3" long). 

 

I'm pretty sure even with a bow I would still need a DMP tag to take a doe before regular bow season(3M Oct. 1st) starts, right?

You can't start hunting Sept 1. It just means they are valid for this season unless your in a spot that opens that early for deer. It means you have two antlerless tags for that area to use as the laws and dates allow in that area.

Also they are not good for a buck unless it is considered antlerless. (Ie a button buck or any with antler under 3").

However your archery tag itself can be used for an antlered or antlerless deer.
