The plot seeded it's self

Recommended Posts

I Went down to one of my long trail plots and chopped the mature rye up...it also been planted the turnips...which some had gone to seed...This was a week or so ago ...Then I disced last week...the plot is long and narrow and it had some dampness to it, so it was rather "chunky" when disced...I left it and planned to go down this weekend to till smooth and plant....I went down and darn if it wasn't growing 2in high rye all over and 1in high turnips...Hmmm....I've seen deer walk through plowed fields...maybe I'll just let it grow and smooth and plant in the spring...that gives me extra seed...lol

I checked the other clover rye plots I mowed....nothing growing in them but clover and I had kicked out turkey deer and rabbit from them after cutting...but the rye I missed is still intact....I'm not sure deer would mess with the seed heads...I went to pull some seed to eat...and didn't clean it well enough...got the chaff caught on my tongue ...WTH it has like barbs dang near got me in a panic trying to remove it gagging....I can't imagine a deer liking that ..LOL
