growalot
So Mr B went to camp...I chose to stay home..knee and so much work to do...he called our daughter and they went down...he had to mow ..they helped with weed whacking and walked their dogs...but no one went into the camp nor turned on the water for the season....the porch roof was oozing bee hive...and Mr B said it sounded like a transformer humming....a hornets nest... The nest I killed.... they were starting under my blind..well must not have gotten them all...for 7ft in front of the blind in the crotch of a maple they built a nest the size of a plastic storage tote...it's huge and at eye level......I'll take pics later... Be careful cutting trees this fall ..they are every where
JimR
I had to have an exterminator in a month ago. I woke up and there were a couple of yellow jackets in the bedroom, came back from my shower and there were more than a dozen, came back up from breakfast and there were.... well ALOT ! I could see a pencil sized hole in the ceiling drywall, going up into the crawlspace. Called an exterminator before work , about 7:00 am and left a message. I cranked up the AC at that point also. The wife reported thruout the day she could hear them in the bedroom buzzing. I got home about 5:00 pm and the exterminator had just arrived. He checked the bedroom and said they were all dead or dormant from the temp of the room. He sprayed the outside of the house where the yellowjackets were coming and going., and said to call again in the next few days if they returned. I vacumed 6 inches if bees out of the globe covering the lightbulbs on our ceiling fan ! I don't know what he sprayed, but it worked, no problems since, a little caulk to seal up the hole (popcorn ceiling) and all done.
