New moon....

I see that the new moon will be Oct 4th....that should make going into stand sites predawn much easier the first week of the season....I am not fond of the full moon mornings,,,,

I took that whole week off. Hoping the darkness helps my odds. Though this will be my firstpitch black night walk in the woods.

Your eyes will adjust some...but as I've aged I decided A head lamp in green or red is a help or a small light pointing down at my side does the trick....learned while on a blood trail...critters don't spook at the colored lights...in fact they hung around sorta curious....but they eyes...and position of the eyes sure spooked me...lol

Do you plan on being that close to bedding you can catch a buck as he beds? October mornings without significant scouting and "patterning" is only good for tipping every deer off it is intrusion time......

Headlamp is the way to go on those dark nights/mornings. Keeps your hands free for all the other stuff!

Never tried a headlamp! Been toying with the idea now for a few years, but just haven't pulled the trigger and gotten one yet. I can see some advantages.
