What a RUSH

I am 38 years old and just started to bow hunt this year. I have to say WOW what a rush! I did not get a shot off but man what a RUSH! I got out of work at 4:30 yesterday and was in my stand by 5:12. Just sitting there hoping I can get a chance to just see some deer because last week-end (opening week-end) I seen no deer and I was in the woods for 10 hours on Saturday. Anyway, after a while I heard a single gun shot from the neighboring property so I looked at my watch and it was 5:40 and still no deer. At 5:50 another gun shot from the neighbors land and still no deer. About 5 to 10 minutes later straight across the hay field from my stand a nice 6 pointer appeared out of the golden rod / apples. He was just outside of his ears and about 6 – 7 “above his ears. My heart was pounding on my chest. The field is only 58 yards across but extremely long. This guy would never come any closer then 40 – 45 yards. I was shaking the whole time he was out there. This guy stayed just out of my range until 6:34 when he turned and walked back into the apples and gone for the night. He had no clue I was there and the wind was hitting me in the back going directly to him. I hope I will get a second chance and a shot next time but man I have to say WHAT A RUSH!!!!

I have hunted deer with a gun for the past 22 years but that RUSH last night was nothing like hunting with a gun. I still get excited when gun hunting but bow hunting if just awsome when that deer comes in like that.

Getting a deer with a bow really gets the heart pumping ! Nothing like getting up close and personal !

I get the same rush. Bow or gun, buck or doe. They all thrill me just the same. When that thrill and rush go away it is time to quit. (I don't see me quitting until I am facing up and the flowers are going above me.)

I was fortunate to take a doe last weekend, thought I was pretty calm until after the doe ran off with my arrow sticking out of her.That is when I realized how fast my heart was beating.Ah adrenaline !
