ny_deer_hunter
Thats BS!! I tell ya what, the way I was raised in the woods and to be an ethical hunter, this stuff did not happen. I would say about the last 7 years is when we have seen the influx of the "all about me" people. Last year we had a ladder stand removed (stolen) by some guy using a 10k side by side atv. Well he must have thought we were not at camp and drove right by us on the way out. I just don't get it! 1. He was tresspassing. 2. He stole property. 3. He has a top of the line ATV. Go buy your own f'in treestand, they are not that expensive! I am very glad to hear you were ok. That far back in the woods you may not have gotten out. Time for the real hunters to take back the woods. Weather it be kicking people out for littering in the field to idiots like this that try crap like this. I know I will be checking my stand TONIGHT! Doc
RangerClay- You know, this may have been a good time to get the cops involved. I believe that a fairly serious crime had been committed, and they just might have taken the attempted killing/maiming/whatever, serious enough to launch an investigation. I think I would have reported it and stressed the point that someone is out there intent on doing bodily harm, and without some law enforcement pressure may try that again or perhaps some other form of attempted assault. It seems to me that now you are stuck with the knowledge that someone out there wants to do you harm and you don't know who, how, or when. wztirem
I will tell you this, at a camp I used to hunt on (private property) in West Fulton, NY we had all our stands stolen, the house broken into and the oil tank siphoned of fuel! martin
Sorry to hear about your ordeal RangerClay. It does stink. I would have to agree with Steve863 about the dirt bags comming out. This is a scary time of year for all deer hunters. Were there is good, there is bad. There are a lot of problems during this time and with the goverment cutting staff,it will only be worse. There is not much we can do except watch our backs and hope for the best. Some people just do not care and will go thru great lenghts to get a deer or to steal. Its a part of life we have to live with. I wish you all a successful and safe deer season.
