Figs

Anyone every plant fig trees?  I am in Sullivan county and was going to give it a shot.

I grow them down here in the city and they grow like 2-4 ft a year at least. They grow much better here then back in Europe. I have seen a few in ulster county though so they might be able to take the cold especially if you cover them in the winter. You might want to get one of the more cold hardy figs as well.

i grow them down here... im bringing my trees up when i move up there so i hope they do good lol

My neighbor had one years ago that produced ridiculous amounts of fruit. So much so that we were both overrun with ants. Chopped It down. My buddy has one in westchetse and it is doing well. Took some TLC in the beginning (wrapping in the winter and starte fertilizers,etc.)

I am actually more concerne about the deer eating them. (I want them too.)

deer shouldnt touch them. I have some planted in ground and some smaller ones in containers. birds surprisingly havent bothered them either.

Oh man I guess I won't bother it's not a residence it's only hunting property sonic the deer don't eat no reason to plant. Maybe bears though.

The squirrels and birds go crazy trying to get to mine down here and i have hard that the deer will eat figs so you might as well try it.
