ADK Native
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/countering-the-gun-lobby-s-firehose-of-falsehood/ar-AA12dLXw?ocid=SL5GDHP&pc=SL5G&cvid=0af4e705b6234ffe8003c676cfb4ce57 The article states “The first firehose deployed by the gun lobby was intended to change the interpretation of the Second Amendment itself. The book, “The Second Amendment: A Biography,” found that before 1960, every law review article on the Second Amendment rejected the “individual rights” interpretation touted by the gun lobby, which was trying to claim that the Second Amendment should be applied to an individual, not just to a group (such as a militia). Dr. Matthew Lacombe wrote in his book “Firepower,” that National Rifle Association chief Merritt Edson commissioned an internal study in 1955 on whether the individual rights interpretation of the Second Amendment was valid. The study returned minimal evidence for such an interpretation.” “The study returned minimal evidence for such an interpretation” is false. The Second Amendment states “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”. Strange on how the “anti-gun authorities and experts” minimalize the word “people”. If the constitutional protection for the ownership of firearms was not intended for all (of course with restrictions for violent criminals and those not mentally capable of safely operating firearms), then why was not the words for example “military and law enforcement” used in the place of the word “people”? The article states “the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention demonstrated that a firearm in the home substantially increased the risk of death,” True, but the actual details are kept secret. Many of the deaths in homes by firearms are from suicide. Further those who risk death in the home from firearms are usually involved with other crimes like illegal drug sale and use, assault and sexual assault. Why does the CDC not tell the whole story to not feed the gun control ignorance? The article states “the gun lobby has successfully drowned out reputable research on firearms with a torrent of falsehoods.” Falsehoods like calling a violent sociopaths criminal use of a firearm “GUN VIOLENCE”? When some violent sociopaths kills with knives it’s never called ‘KNIFE VIOLENCE” or they use a motor vehicle to murder it’s never called “MOTOR VEHICLE VIOLENCE”. The gun haters are very crafty with their psychological warfare against the ignorant who believe these “anti-gun authorities and experts”. The article states “So what can one do against such reckless disinformation? Fortunately, the academic literature on persuasion offers a clear path forward.” “So what can one do against such reckless disinformation?” First stop calling criminal use of firearms “GUN VIOLENCE” because the truth is it’s ‘PEOPLE VIOLENCE”. Second the anti-gun politicians and their followers need to research deeper into the root causes of “people violence”. A few of the root causes of “PEOPLE VIOLENCE” are the distribution, sale and use of illegal drugs, the governments failed mental health system to keep the violently ill institutionalized, the failed welfare system that has enable many fatherless families, the failed public education system and the failed judicial system that is not keeping violent people out of society. “Fortunately, the academic literature on persuasion offers a clear path forward.” Their path leads nowhere to reduce or eliminate the root causes of “PEOPLE VIOLENCE” regardless of how many times they tell you they are an authority or expert. To be fair, will we see an opposing article entitled Countering the anti-gun control lobby’s firehose of falsehood? I would be interested if the “authorities and experts” would address the root causes of “PEOPLE VIOLENCE” like the distribution, sale and use of illegal drugs, the governments failed mental health system to keep the violently ill institutionalized, the failed welfare system that has enable many fatherless families, the failed public education system and the failed judicial system that is not keeping violent people out of society. My guess is they will conveniently forget the causes of “PEOPLE VIOLENCE” and keep attacking firearm ownership. virgil
Don't you mean the 'anti-gun lobby'?

I just cut and pasted the article title, website and exerts from the article. I believe they entitled it correctly since the article is an attack on pro-gun supporters like the NRA while weakly attempting to infuse their anti-gun propaganda as part of their psychological warfare to keep the ignorant gun haters ignorant! Thank you. I fixed "my" unlikely to be written article title to include "anti-". Grouse
We need to understand the government is spending tax dollars to destroy a Constitutional right. And the people in the government voting to do it are on the left side of the aisle. They're Democrats. So any vote, for any democrat, is a vote to destroy the 2nd Amendment. Keep that in mind when you vote for a Democrat for some other reason. They are a package deal. Is your legal weed or privilege to have your girlfriend get an abortion, more important to you than your 2nd Amendment rights?
