Not sure I understand what you mean, but if you are saying Wildlife Services interfaces with hunters or is involved in wildlife management/science/policy/law you are mistaken. Wildlife Services is an agency within the US Department of Agriculture. Their function is to help farmers and ranchers remove problem animals. They probably staff a few biologists but it is not a scientific agency. It is not a law enforcement agency either. And they don't get involved with policy or regulation making. They kill animals for agriculture producers paid for by the tax payer - farmers and ranchers obtain this service for free. They have no authority to tell anyone what to do or not to do and they don't advocate for any policy.

 

Also the video is a little misleading when it says that they are not under any governing regulations - that simply is not true, they do not operate under the same regulations as sport hunters, fur trappers and private nuisance wildlife trappers, but they certainly are bound by many laws.

      Hey everyone, 
       I will be getting my trapping license this fall and obviously I'm about as green as they come. I have property in upstate NY, that has an abundance of predators. I don't want to get into trapping for the money as I know fur price are down these days, but a little money earned and helping my deer, turkey, rabbit, grouse and hopefully reintroduced pheasant population is a win enough for me. I have seen a fisher every time I have scouted and hunted this piece of land. My cousin who lives about five minutes down the road from my property lost about 15 of his "prized show chickens" to a fisher in one night (trail cam confirmed). I have gotten a few coyote and fox pictures as well but have not seen them in person just yet. Primarily my target animal to remove by trapping is the fisher, I like and don't mind putting some hours into fox and coyote hunting with the gun but wouldn't mind grabbing a few of them in a trap as well. Any advice on trap sizes, most reliable beginner priced friendly brands and catching foxes, coyotes, bobcats, racoons, and the fisher would be appriciated!

      I am new to the predator hunting world. I have always wanted to do it but haven't jumped for the set up until recently. I have purchased a .223, calls, light for night hunting and have done a ton of research, as well as watching coyote hunting videos from calling the country. In my opinion they seem to be very knowledgeable and as informational as videos come. I have a buddy who traps and has frozen his pelts to sell green (has yet to bring them to a buyer). I finally sprung into predator hunting to help out the deer, turkey, and rabbit population on my new farm in Schoharie county which is over run with coyote and bobcats as well as my hometown spots in Putnam county, but figure if I can make a few bucks and use the animal after harvest its a win win. I was wondering who sells green vs going through the stretching, drying, and tanning process themselves and why? Also if there is a annual fur buyer in the southern tier, I have been looking it up but haven't found any information on that as of yet.
