Can I sell ammunition? I don't mean as a job, just some extra Hevi Shot I have laying around. Also, I know it can't be shipped to me, but can I ship it to someone out of state. Excuse my ignorance please.

Yes you can sell ammo but as far as shipping it, I cannot answer that but if it is out of state, then I don't see an issue as they don't have the same laws as us in New Yorkistan

Well there is a dealer in Texas that will send ammo right to your house. See what the NY Safe Act states is commercial transactions of ammo must be made face to face.What this dealer has done is let you setup a local pickup option at his place of business, then you request a UPS or Fedex pickup and use your shipping address as the ship to and ship from person, so you are really just shipping the ammo to yourself. A lawyer over on NY Firearms said that was a brilliant work around the law.

I believe a person can sell ammo to someone else, but not at a profit.

After reading this, I don't know how comfortable I would be making a habit of advertising and selling ammo, whether or not it's for a profit.

The above part of t he law was supposed to start but has been put on hold due to the database not being ready.  which is a political jargon for until after the election.  No dealers are able to register yet and there are no background checks yet. So to answer your question at this time yes you can sell ammo.  As far as shipping, there are federal laws that are in effect.  i would check with those regs before I shipped it.

Also if you read that Safe Act it states a BUSINESS involved in the sale of Ammunition.
