Fishing in Ithaca, NY

I grew up fishing on Cayuga. The lake is full of panfish so anywhere you can drop a line is good. If you had a boat, I would suggest fishing close to Milliken Station, the power plant you can see from Taunghannock Falls. Warm water discharge and the fish seem to like that area. Worms are your friend along with minnows. Good luck and most of all have fun.

For shore fishing I would recommend Taughannock Falls State Park: http://nysparks.com/parks/62/details.aspx. The water drops off in depth rapidly and lake trout, landlocked salmon are caught there regularly. There are usually schools of bait hanging around. Lake trout regularly come out of temperature into the shallower water near the point even in the summer. Taughannock Creek flows into the lake providing bait and attracting fish. You can also catch bass and panfish in the area. Here is a short article: http://blog.syracuse.com/outdoors/2012/07/cny_shoreline_hot_spots_taughg.html

Its a beautiful park for the family. You can picnic right on the edge of the water.
