airedale
Some Hog hunting action from the boys on the Airedale board, having done a bit of Hog hunting with dogs I can say it was a blast. These dogs "catch" so they are outfitted with cut vests to prevent injury from tusks. Al Edited October 27, 2023 by airedale
airedale
Coursing with Dogs is something I have always wanted to try, if I lived in an area where I had some wide open spaces it would be something I would try. The pack below made up of Stag hounds and Airedales are out for some Coyote action. Al
airedale
New pup being picked up this weekend and of course it is an Airedale, going on 76 years of age so this will more than likely be the last pup I will train out. He should be a good one as he has many of my good best Airedales in his pedigree, I am excited. Not the best photo but he is the pup on the far right. Anyone interested in what is the best all around versatile hunting dog and you have instagram check out one of my message board members instagram site, the photos speak for themself and show what these dogs are capable of if bred right. airedale
Hunting Coyotes with decoy dogs is all based on stirring up their strong territorial behavior, they will try to drive out any other canines in their perceived home ground and especially so during denning. I have had them several times when Coon hunting come in and try to harass my Hounds, I always had an Airedale in the pack that would put an end to that nonsense. Al I wonder what would happen with my Black Mouth Curs? They use them for all types of game down south even Bear. I guess they would be fine. airedale
From what I have read Black Mouth Curs have a great reputation and I think one from good hunting bloodlines, with proper training could make a good decoy dog. airedale
Picked up some training aids to fire up and tune my Dogs, a small flock of Birmingham Roller Pigeons, I will be testing my Airedale pup "Ruff" to see if he has some inclination to hunt birds and also will be working with my Setter Matty to tighten her up on point. Have them housed in a vacant dog run for now, once I get the loft cleaned up they will be living up there. These are young birds and it will take them awhile to get used to their new home. airedale
I like to put an orange vest on my hunting dogs for several reasons. Visibility for one, can't be too careful, I also clip on a bell up front on the ring which helps me keep track of my dog. Where I bird hunt the cover is infested with ticks, I will spray the vest with permethrin, it helps keeping the ticks off the dog and lastly it offers some chest protection when working thick cover. airedale
Deep Swamp Donnie was owned by an animal control guy out in California and a member of my Airedale message board, Donnie had his origins from my line of Airedales and I was quite proud of him. airedale
Yikes!, What a mess, "Red" an Airedale is under all that mud, same fellow that owned Donnie up above hunted this guy in a swamp where he caught up to a big sow Hog in a mud hole and held her there. airedale
I had some pretty fair days shooting pigeons, they are actually pretty good eating. I do not see pigeons like I use to. These guys on the Airedale board got into them pretty good, a pigeon shoot is a great way to get a dog practice on retrieving, these two were about worn out after this hunt.
