Pygmy
Those ocean run pacific salmon taste much better than the ones here in the Great Lakes Perhaps it's the diet..While the local salmon feed mostly on oily baitfish (alewives), the ocean run fish enjoy a much more varied diet, including shrimp and other crustaceans. New York Hillbilly
I'm looking forward to learning how to smoke salmon when I get to Soldotna. It is supposed to be one of the best salmon fisheries in the world, on the Kenai river.
Pygmy
I'm looking forward to learning how to smoke salmon when I get to Soldotna. It is supposed to be one of the best salmon fisheries in the world, on the Kenai river. The Kenai has good runs of all species of salmon, including the biggest king salmon in the world. There are lots of other places to fish, also, and some are not as crowded as the Kenai. Then of course, there is excellent salt water fishing for halibut, ling cod and rockfish. Just keep an eye over your shoulder for those hairy volkswagons while you are out and about. Many of the locals carry heavy caliber handguns or shotguns while fishing.
