Hey everyone just want to introduce myself , my name is Dave and it's only 'y second year hunting. Still very new but did manage to get out a couple times last year. Anyone hunt stewart? Might want to try sterling this year any thoughts?

Welcome aboard.

 

Sterling can get crowded opening week, but thins out.

Must have a Sterling permit to hunt there.  Some areas are Archery only, and there are some no-hunting zones (a wildlife sanctuary, Rennaissance fair grounds, ski lift, Appalachian Trail).

 

May want to pick up a trail map for Sterling.

 

At this point. you are locked out of opening 3 days at Sterling.  Have to apply by mid-Sept. to get opening weekend.

 

You could head over to Port Jervis to give Huckleberry Ridge or Storm King Mountain a try if have no where else to try.  Just watch out of hikers if the weather is nice.
