Some vintage bow equipment I just got.

At my brothers 60 th birthday party my niece walks in with the two bow cases and tackle box. She says  uncle Jeff and Burt you have to look at this stuff. Her neighbor was moving and had all of her deceased husbands bow stuff in the shed. My niece said her two uncles would love it so here we are. A tackle box full of all types of things. Two bows a Golden Eagle and a Bear compound. Back in the day the Golden Eagles were the bow to shoot. I just may hang them in the Barn as a tribute to a fellow Bow Hunter. His last license was in 2003-04. Cool stuff, jump in if you have any suggestions or knowledge of the bows. Also some wicked broadheads!

Congrats, That equipment may be vintage but it was top of the line stuff in it's day, while they are a bit heavier than today's stuff and a bit slower they would still be very effective in the hands of an archer that knows how to use them. I have no experience with Golden Eagle equipment but I know it is of very good quality. As for the bottom bow, it looks to be a Bear Alaskan, it was their top of the line bow back in the day and I have one hanging here in my gun room, I still get the old gal out every now and then and sling a few arrows. All of my archery equipment is of the same era, at this stage of the game it is plenty good enough for me.

I just ran up to the barn. It's a Bear Whitetail 2. Yes all that stuff weighs a lot but still capable in taking down a deer. Funny there was a box of Eastern arrows with it that were fairly new. He must of just got them before he died. 2018's cut to my length. I shot a few and they did fine. May I take a nice buck this year with one of his arrows. He hunted 4O and 3 J. Pretty close to where I first started out in 4P.

I will guarantee that both of those bows will shoot very good groups and are capable of taking a good many deer for any hunter that is interested in getting into bowhunting or archery in general.

Rather than just hanging them in the barn where they will be gathering dust, you might want to find a young person who wants to get into archery but cannot afford the investment and at least have them being used. Is that perhaps a more fitting and useful way to dispose of them?

I like that idea. Problem is I have 3 other bows that I have tried to find a young hunter and came up empty. It's a shame.

Here's another thought: Are there any archery clubs in your area. If so, they may have ideas on how to appropriately hook up a needy young potential bowhunter with the equipment.

Hey Doc I donated those bows and 1 more to the 4H club last night. Was at whitetail unlimited dinner! Thanks for the idea they were thrilled.
