I missed ?

Decent 8 , wouldn’t come into the woods closer .. watched him awhile , finally stepped into a clearing about 40 yards

Put the 40 yard mark on him , pulled the trigger ..he squatted down , ran about 10 yards , turned and looked into the woods toward me ..

 walked back to where I shot him and started eating grass .

 I looked him over and no blood on his body.

i knock another bolt , it looked like he left , I climbed down and he’s there looking at me

 then he turned and lopped up thru the golden rod

I found the bolt just laying in the grass . Nothing on it at all..

This thing was dialed in .. I’m gonna recheck tomorrow at 40 yards 

so what  happened

Sounds like you pretty much diagnosed the problem, I think you missed.

40yards is pretty far and xbow very loud. I bet he ducked down and you shot over it.
If its head was down deer can pivot and duck even faster..using its head/neck as a lever

Yea I just changed the broadhead

i shoot a muzzy 4 bld fixed

all 4 blades were all banged up 

I’ll check the zero tomorrow morning with my target 

I suppose I could have hit a branch ??

if the zero is dead on tomorrow I lick my wounds and go again

Shot it this morning ,shooting way low

got it dialed back in but not sure the problem

i never dropped it or anything and everything is tight

I feel the scope usually holds good unless one drops it from a tree stand but sometimes the actual rail screws if not loctite will come lose or even the cheaper scope mounts are affected by temps.
I put blue thread locker on every screw..
