But I have not witnessed does chasing other doe in the late summer or fall.

When the hay fields were here I'd see some chasing and does picking on fawns ...but the all out battles I have only seen while on stand, bow hunting my woods...

The town digging these culverts and adding the big rocks will make things interesting this year...I have distinct pathways where the deer move from one side of our land to the other....the town has completely removed the bank and now it's a 10ft 80 degree drop onto sharp rocks to cross the road,That leaves my old front garden the edge of the corn field and the old hunters drive and swampy area to cross...I wonder if that will change the timing of their movements or make them stay in one area over another....hhhmmm

Not complicated ...just a game..With each side making different moves at different times...It is only decided in the hunters mind whether it's an interesting, fun game or work...No different than how one views a job to be done...When a person decides their job is nothing but work they stop finding any enjoyment in it.

I think you hit nail.on the head, summer range of bucks was wiped out and yours is next best , they love those fallow fields, the hunting community now sees them a s easy food plots, I try and stress to people I talk to to know what you are removing, if prime bedding and nesting is removed for food yes you will have deer and birds on your property to eat and in case of deer usually at night.... grow you may want to forgo food plot and put in some goood bedding cover, perhaps some tall native grasses.. that may help draw the doe for fawning and bedding, and an adult doe will.remove most of the bucks from her home range....

I feel it's due to potential allocation of resources. Build the right 'hood where everybody has what they need and issues only arise when there is a debate over proximity or a give commodity.
