r1s2000
Hey everyone, i hope all of you are well. Im just curious to see what type of firearms you guys have in NYC. I have a Remmington shotgun but im looking into getting a rifle. Only ones i really like and ALLOWED to have in NYC are Ruger mini 14, Ares, and Benelli Mr1 comfortech. I just found out that Mr1 (my #1 choice) are discontinued and no longer available anywhere. so with that being said, what is the next closest thing to NYC legal "assault" rifle are there? Any suggestions? Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
Elmo
The mini-14 also not allowed. Ares is new so I'm not sure if they've updated their list to include it or not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
r1s2000
I called shotgun/Rifle Kew Gardens this morning and received a confirmation from Sargent at registration that all three were good to go. Elmo
https://www1.nyc.gov/html/nypd/downloads/pdf/permits/rifle_shotgun_permit_application.pdf Read page 7 of the PDF (which is page 2 of 8 of the application instruction guide). It lists Ruger Mini 14/5F specifically. Now I don't know enough about the Ruger Mini 14 to know if the 5F is a specific version that's different from any other Ruger Mini 14 so don't take my word for it. Also, when you call the office, pretty much everyone there has only general knowledge of the law. There is one lady (I forgot her name) but she is the only one who approves your registration. She only goes there twice a week for a few hours to review all the applications and stamps the approval. Everyone else only simply collects the applications and makes sure they're put together properly. They know the law, generally. But when it comes to the tiniest of details, that specific lady is who you want to talk to. She is the one you want to talk to but she is tough to catch since she's hardly there. Unfortunately, I forgot her name. She was very nice to me on the phone though and was very helpful. If you do find out more about the Mini 14, let us know. I'm now kind of curious myself. ATbuckhunter
I see no reason for it to not be allowed in NYC IF you can prove your using a 5 round magazine.

gfdeputy2
I would not speculate one way or the other just providing the info on the model # I would still verify from a good source
