growalot
I know I'm getting stronger but WTH!! I was down below limbing some downed trees and when I take the saw in the gator I pull the pruner pole off the engine mount..... no biggy loosen screw and pull...well I try and it wont budge try and try to no avail Thinking I'm just weak from using it. I put motor on ground with pole facing out and grip it with my knees and pull...the whole assembly just came apart!...there' s a long rod and a round plastic part...but I don't see anything else...may still be in the motor link...It was working fine...up til then!anyone els ever have such a problem? b3h
Lot of vibration in those things. Screw might have loosened up or fell out. Ol dog on a stray

G-Man
I went with a battery operated pole saw, works well super quiet.
growalot
Not sure a battery operated one would be strong enough for the stuff I cut...but wouldn t mind less noise
landtracdeerhunter
Ah, the good old days when saws and the like were made out of metal.
growalot
I really can't say a bad thing about Sthil...You guys know I really put that thing through it's paces and then some...I use it so much we keep 5 chains rotating out to make sure I always have a sharp one. I have to say MR B laughed and said..... Man I can see it now when that came apart...." OH great! @#$^%&^!! Now I'm going to have to listen to him "beouch"!"...LoL he's right that is exactly what I was saying.
The_Real_TCIII
I bought a Remington electric one, it has great reviews. I've taken 30-40 limbs down, some over 6", and it hasn't slowed down. It was only $99. I got an estimate of $575 for the work so if it died today I'm way ahead
G-Man
Well I cut 7in maple limb with it, then cut that into 3 to move it and 3 oak limbs about 4 in, 1 charge and still has juice left. I am very impressed as we're the guys I was with who said, if I didn't see it it wouldn't believe it....99 bucks and it's a 40 volt system. wdswtr
ya..... but I'm cutting 12 + diameter trees down. With a pruner? Damn that must take all day. No wonder why it broke lol. Thats a job for a real chainsaw.
growalot
Nope...it's an acquired skill...MR.B won't let me use the chain saws when he's not here...We have a deal. So he got me the pruner...you know to keep me a distance from the blade...little did he know I'd learn how to get the jobs done! I drop them...cut the tops out and up...then move the logs with the tractor to be cut later.I can do a lot when I drop one day and top and haul Limbs the next. I've had the pruner for many years now. I just make sure I know when to rest it...always have bar oil...Sharp chains...and keep the bar /chain clean and with the proper tension/gap. growalot
So I took the pruner into the dealer...Mr B had fixed it but I ran it the other day and she got HOT. Well knowing it probably needed greasing and a high heat one I took her in...He took it apart greased it all up. When doing so inspected it and I ordered those plastic end sleeves..Said she's looking fine and good I know about greasing...... it is the thing guys forget and rarely do just like the heads on your Sthil weed eaters that are suppose to be greased...BTW no charge...that was a nice surprise!
