woodchuck hunting

[Kill Them All]

Hello hunters, 

 

You know the title,  Kill Them All,  means a great deal to

me. That's what the farmer's use to tell my dad when he

asked permission to burn some powder.  Well my dad is

no longer with me. Any woodchuck hunters out there.

Back in the day when the family farms were still prevalent and Chuck populations were large I was about as big a fanatic about hunting them as one could be. I hunted big farm hay fields on hilltops  in the southern tier  and I would go through nearly a 50 round caseguard box of my reloads picking them off.

 

Like you say, back in them days the farmers would welcome Chuck hunters and tell you to kill them all.

They are a fun game that's for sure!

I had six next door to me and as the kits got bigger they started coming over to make a home in my land. SO far I got 5 and just 1 left and he never seems to come out for a clear shot. I check each day,

got 2 with 20 gage shot gun and slugs, got 2 with 22 cal rifle, and 1 with 303 cal rifle.

What part of southern tier did you hunt. I use to hunt

Belfast, Belmont Scio, Andover.

Mostly South of route 20 from Waterville on the back roads off of both sides of route 12, Hubbardsville, Poolville, Sherburne, all the way  down to Norwich where my favorite spot was just out side of town.
