mbielat
I have a friend who has his hunting license in California. Does he have to do anything special in order to buy his tags here in NY?

mbielat
Yeah, fork out a stupid amount of money. That's what I figured. Do you have any info for me that you could elaborate on? I'm wondering if he has to take a hunting class here who / where he needs to contact to fork over the cash..
jjb4900
I would just call a license issuing agent.....I would hope they would know.
Skillet
He's licensed in CA, so his hunter education will carry over. He just needs to go to a DEC licensing agent or buy his license online. If he wants doe tags, he has to wait until November 1st.
Elmo
What skillet said. Hunters Ed Cert works allows you to buy a license in any state. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

jjb4900
just make sure that an old license is accepted if that's what he intends to use, NY says "Hunter Ed Certificate", so I take that to mean what it says.....find out ahead of time. Other State CertificatesNew York State accepts Sportsman Education Certificates from other states when purchasing a sporting licenses. Certificate Requirements in Other States and Countries: To verify whether a New York State Sportsman Education Certificate is accepted elsewhere, visit the International Hunter Education Association (External Link) to find certificate restrictions and requirements in all other states and countries. Many states and countries will require to see your hunter education certificate and will not accept your hunting or trapping license as proof of a certificate. WNYBuckHunter
Yeah, fork out a stupid amount of money. Look at some other states, NY's nonresident licenses arent that pricey really.
