Questions for a friend

I have a friend who has his hunting license in California. Does he have to do anything special in order to buy his tags here in NY?

That's what I figured. Do you have any info for me that you could elaborate on? I'm wondering if he has to take a hunting class here who / where he needs to contact to fork over the cash..

I would just call a license issuing agent.....I would hope they would know.

He's licensed in CA, so his hunter education will carry over. He just needs to go to a DEC licensing agent or buy his license online. If he wants doe tags, he has to wait until November 1st.

What skillet said. Hunters Ed Cert works allows you to buy a license in any state.

just make sure that an old license is accepted if that's what he intends to use, NY says "Hunter Ed Certificate", so I take that to mean what it says.....find out ahead of time.

Many states and countries will require to see your hunter education certificate and will not accept your hunting or trapping license as proof of a certificate.
