SEA DUCKS ARE IN ON LONG ISLAND

WE HAD GARY OUT FOR A DAY OF SEA DUCKING OUT EAST. WHILE WE WERE SETTING UP THE DEKES SCOTER AND OLD SQUAW WERE COMMIMG IN. WE KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE A BANNER DAY AS SOON AS WE GOT SET UP. WHEN WE FINALLY SET UP GARY WASNT DISAPPOINTED. WE QUICKLY LIMITED OUT WITH SCOTER AND OLD SQUAW.

BILLY CAME OUT TO TRY HIS HAND AT SEA DUCK HUNTING. IT TOOK HIM A LITTLE WHILE TO GET USED TO THE LEAD REQUIRED TO HIT THESE FAST BIRDS. ONCE HE GOT THE LEAD DOWN HE STARTED DROPPING BIRDS. SAFE TO SAY HES HOOKED ! HES GETTING A SCOTER MOUNTED TO ADD TO HIS TROPHY ROOM.

Gosh you make me jealous!!!!!!!!!

 

I moved off the island to buy a farm up here in the catskills instead of buying  a little creek front cabin/house on the north fork.  Still regret it.

 

I really miss duck hunting and sea duck hunting.  Sitting in the blind, the smell of the salt air and sulfur of low tide in the marshes.  Watching the sun come up over the water.  Even miss the sting of the sleet and spray.

 

Will have to get back down again and get my "fix".

 

By the way, where do you hunt?  Off the south shore or out in the Peconics?

Yes it is truly beautiful here. We hunt on all shores of the island depending on condition

I saw a bunch of bufflehead and swans in Lake Hopatcong this morning that was pretty cool

I looked at the site and was wondering the same thing.

 

I was also wondering the WMU's in the ADK and Upstate they hunt deer in. Just for curiosity sake. Seeing some of the hunts say wilderness hunts.

4F isn't the ADK's.

We did very well this season considering the warm weather. We had 3 clients miss 2 10 points and an 8 pt. most guys filled thier tags.

We had Andrew and Dino out today to try thier hand at thier 1st sea Duck hunt. They werent Disappointed! Birds came in nicely for a quick limit of scoter and old squaw. New trophys for the wall!

WE had James come out today to try his hand on his 1st Sea Duck hunt. He had a blast with old Squaw. We limited out by 9 and headed in early.

We had 4 guys come down from up upstate for a sea duck hunt. they had a blast limiting out on old squaw by 10 am.
