So the tiller died....

Actually the engine is great...the tine were all replaced new this spring tranny is working great...but the parts that actually turn the tines,  shot...figures...We usually have transmissions go ...So Mr B brought me home a new troy built  with the life time tranny warranty...going out to try her out in  little bit...definitely not as fancy as the the Husqvarna...cost as much as it though...In fact the price was the same, on both, as what we payed 12 years ago......It's lighter and I have to manually put the wheels in free wheel to push it longer distances and gas throttle is on engine not the handle bars but that's OK. I never change throttle after starting anyways unless I'm turning it off...Hope this will be the last one we ever buy so far it'd been just a sears the Husqvarna and now this...not bad for the work I've put them through...He went with the smaller less fancy because...everything is already tilled and fairly de-rocked now...If I were to do anything of real size and fallow ground I would use the tractor and disc to break new ground...this will be great on small stuff....I have 30 days to see.....

I think mines a troy built too.  fuel line kind of bad.  I just put what gas in it I need for now.  also the end to the cable that engages the pulley to turn the tines and wheels broke.  I wired it up so it wouldn't come out as easily.  so far so good.  new cable assembly would probably be expensive as it's a little older but I think the hole the end goes into is a little worn and oblong too.  that bracket is even more of a pain to replace.  I just use it for the garden.  for a food plot the cultivators and a set of drags behind the tractor work well enough.  I've borrowed a 4' tiller before too.

Thanks for the tips on that...things we will keep and eye on...

 

We are giving the Husqvarna to our son...he can work on the repair over the winter in his garage...the problem is you have to break the tranny seal...... open up the casing to get to the part that turns just the tines...then try to get the thing to reseal ...Mr B hasn't the time nor patience for this seeing we have had to have the tranny replaced under warranty once. That time nothing worked,no movement at all. The dealers mechanic said 12 yr's and they haven't improved the problem...which is probably why they are still the same price after 12 yrs. :rolleyes:

Hhmmmm well it works OK...but dang! slow as all get-out....bogs a bit in vegetation...and the handle bar is so low my back is killing me.......it may have to go back especially if we can't get the handle bars to lift a lot higher... I do not think there is room to make such an adjustment
