Phone mount for Bow/Crossbow/Rifle

I have always wanted to film my hunts but have never had the equipment to do so. My new phone has an 8x zoom and shoots video in HD so I am thinking it might work well. I have been looking at phone mounts but most of them have pretty poor reviews. Anyone using one that they really like?

Good question. I'd consider this as well. Not to post on youtube even but it would be interesting if nothing else to see what went wrong or right about a particular shot. $40 seems to get a decently reviewed one on amazon, though (?).

My main concern about getting one of these is that it could be a real fiddle and I don't want anything else to worry about, particularly since I tend to use my phone and there is often not a great deal of warning between sitting on one's butt and then a deer coming by.

I agree with you, I don't want to post on youtube. Maybe I would post it here if I wound up with really cool footage. Mostly I just think I would be really cool to have. I have lots of pics and videos on my phone of deer from the stand but always after I decided I wasn' t going to shoot. I don't have any pics or video of deer I have harvested and I think that would be awesome to have. Do you have a link of a good one that has a good review. The only one I saw was a bow mount only that had very good reviews, but I would like to be able to use it for everything.

This one well reviewed but looks weird:
https://www.amazon.com/S4Gear-JackKnife-Smartphone-phones-Samsung/dp/B008HA25I0/ref=pd_bxgy_200_img_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=KQ3NWEHYJ1K7QQDB3VD7

This well reviewed, but the expose spring is downright goofy as all get out. I have $10 phone mounts with concealed springs for my car, what the heck:
https://www.amazon.com/Fighting-Squirrel-Smartphone-Bow-Mount/dp/B01DQBUCXE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472151483&sr=8-1&keywords=compound+bow+phone+mountA

This looks really solid and effective but it also looks clearly like it cannot be quickly put into the mount, which means you can't use your phone much otherwise:
https://www.amazon.com/CrazyArchery-Clamp-Smartphone-Bow-Mount/dp/B00FP18P7Y/ref=sr_1_fkmr3_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472151483&sr=8-1-fkmr3&keywords=compound+bow+phone+mount

A spring is nice because you can one-hand the phone into place without it being loud, but no reason to have it exposed.

I'm somewhat inclined to use some aluminum from lowes/home depot and build something like the third link. It looks like a good unit but there is no reason that it should cost $45.

One of the amazon reviews has a question and it illuminates a very important point: "

The phone itself don't vibrate but the little movement my bow makes it so I can't see my shot even with a lighted nock.  " I'm assuming any mounted device is going to make the shot look really shaky indeed. Possibly something mounted on your head would function better in this regard.

Core, I appreciate you taking the time to post those links. I had looked at those but they seem to only be for the bow. I would like something I can use on the crossbow and rifle as well. I started looking at bike/motorcycle mounts. I can't tell without ordering one if I could mount one to my stabilizer and also to my scope on the crossbow and rifle. They look a lot more sturdy. I was thinking at the worst I could mount it to the shooting rail on my tree stand and have nice steady video off of that but I am sure if I do that the deer will start coming in from behind me. None of them cost very much so I will probably just make a decision and order one and see if I can make it work.

I don't have one but I know a lot of guys out west use them. It attaches your phone to spotting scope so you can take pics of what u see thru spotting scope.

I googled it after I asked what it was. Pretty cool product but not what I am looking to do....
