JohnR34
Hey guys new to hunting here my wife got me my lifetime sportsman license as a gift. I just recieved my tags and license and was just wondering if it gives you the privilege of early bow season starting October 1 or do I have to wait till regular season. Thanks for the help. Elmo
Odd for your wife to go with a lifetime of you've never hunted before. What happens if you don't like it?If she got only the sportsman license then you cannot bow hunt deer on Oct 1st. You need a bow license for that. Westchester is the only exception when you can bow hunt Oct 1st with only a sportsman license.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
DirtTime
From the DEC site the "Sportsman" package does not include bow or muzzle loader. http://www.dec.ny.gov/permits/6099.html

letinmfly
You can actually bowhunt in Westchester and Suffolk counties with a Sportsman's license.
JohnR34
So if I wanted to go out before regular season starts for bow hunting I would have to purchase the bowhunting privilege then. Correct? Sorry like I said I'm very new to this but want to learn. Edited September 7, 2016 by JohnR34 Misprint

Anywhere else you need the bow privilege license.
