Hello my name is Ethan, I grew up in Ogdensburg on the St. Lawrence, I hunt and fish in the St. Lawrence valley as well as the Adirondacks.  If theres a season for it, then im willing to pursue it.

Bubba where abouts are you from, and what areas do you hunt?

I live in Heuvelton, work in ogdensburg.  I hunt in depeyster,  fish creek state land and near trout lake.  So both 6a and 6c.  I see you are in South Colton. My family had a camp there on three falls lane 2 miles outside south colton on the left. w eno longe rhave it, but the drive way across from the resort driveway between the colton and 5 falls dam.  We had 40 acres there surrounded by then nimo land.  We had alease that turned out not to be legal, so we lost it after having it for over 25 years.  It hurt for a long time. I still drive up there and wanted to go back in to see the old camp, but it is all posted now.  A lot of family memories there.

no I m sorry it is not familiar. We hunt at the walk in access right behind the retired game wardens.  I have taken alot of nice deer back in the swamp, near the creek bank. A tough drag out, but we got it done.

Oh Weird, he knows alot of people from the area cause he does plumbing heating and electric, I did some turkey hunting over behind the old game worden this year, and i heard that a really nice buck was shot over that way this year, a big 12, and my camp is on Carry Falls resivoir

I have a very nice 10 point 180 pound head on my wall that came from that area from 2006.  I guess we have chewed up some of the same dirt then.

Thanks guys, I'm glad I found a NY hunting forum that has people that feel the same about hunting as I do.  I have one question though, whats the difference between a newbie and a full member and Jr. member?

It is a small world.I took my first buck out of fish creek back in 1982.Back then the warden was active and his name is larry kring.He was a big help to us back then.The walk in trail was just past the white house on the hill in between the warden and that house.Its a big area and one year i got turned around late in the afternoon.All those ridges look the same way back near the creek.Lucky i found the big field and then knew where i was.We have taken 3 ten pointers out of there that were all 125 in and better.Long walk in the dark and long drag out if you dont use a canoe to get in.I need to get back there some day.

I teach the hunter safety course with Larrry now.  The other warden was Gary Jackson, who is now retired also. I also teach with him.  I have hunted that area since the early 80's

Ya I can remember stoping in at the old Wardens house with my grandfather after coming back from a day of turkey hunting out there, and ya all those ridges do look the same when it starts to get dark.
