anyone ever try a doe decoy?

No to scared some one will shoot it or me getting it  while i am  setting it up .

I hunt mostly public  i think there a bad idea  in places like that .

I've tried it with mixed results, my land is not conducive for the use of decoys though. You need open area where the deer can spot the decoy and not be surprised.  On 11/17, I set up my decoy over my game camera in a wooded lot, my private 25 acres.  I'll post results when I retrieve SD card.  I rarely hunt gun if I'm successful during archery, that's why it'll be awhile before I get the card.

I can see a decoy during bow season (or at least how bow season used to be), but during any sort of gun season I would think that it might draw more gunfire than bucks. And some of that gunfire might happen with you is the background. During gun season, it is not likely that a decoy would draw in a deer into rifle, shotgun, or muzzleloader range that wasn't already at a shootable distance. It is primarily a bowhunting tool.
