It is perfectly legal to have a 15 or even 30 round magazine in your carbine... not for hunting. But because of the Age of the fire arm it is not governed by the safe act Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk NO MAGAZINES IN NY OVER 10. The fact that they are making new ones that will fit the older magazines it makes those magazines a banned item. For the average guys to be able to say that their magazine fits NO OTHER MODERN weapon might be a stretch. especially with some of the questions we see here. Rattler
Here's the real problem. Let's say you have one of your 30 round M1 mags in your car when you get pulled over. The cop finds it. You WILL be arrested for having it. Now you get to pay a lawyer tons of money to go to court and fight for your "right" to own it, hoping a judge agrees with you. If you win, you're out thousands of dollars. If you lose you go to jail for a long time and your right to own ANY firearm is now gone. The SAFE Act was purposely written with these types of "Catch 22's" so gun owners would comply with anything the government says is illegal. It's supposed to be so confusing, nobody will want to own any type of black rifle, for fear of legal government persecution. I don't think your M1 mags are legal, but even if they are, you better not push the issue without a lawyer willing to defend you for free. This meme sums it up perfectly:
