Missing bow season

I love bow hunting but my true passion is chasing bucks in the ADKS. I bow hunt up there as well but the success rate is about 0. Honestly I like the whole year other than summer. I'm looking forward to deer season being over so I can start chasing bunnies and freezing my codds off ice fishing. After that I'll be trolling for trout and salmon until I can hunt wood chickens then I'll be lake trout fishing until it gets too hot. Not long after that I'll be sweating climbing in a stand with the bow. We are truly blessed to have it all in NY.

Buckmaster why is bow hunting up there so hard? I've never been there. Sounds like an awesome challenge! I might need to look into this a bit more

I have always said that if it weren't for the rut no bucks would be killed in the ADKS. The low deer numbers and lack of consistent food source make it nearly impossible to pattern a buck.

I have hunted hard up there with a bow for 8 years old only got 1 buck and have only had 2 in range. I can't wait to do it this year with my long bow!

Give it a try it's good exercise if nothing else.

Challenge wise nothing beats bow hunting and spending time with my friends. Lots of laughs to accompany the intensity that is the rut or nailing a buck due to patterning and scouting.

At one point this bow season I had a mature buck walk across me on a trail while walking in to the stand in the darkness. He glided across the trail like a ghost and I could have poked him with my bow if I extended my arms out. He never knew I was there - so close my second thought after "so cool!" was "oh my god I may need to defend myself if he turns this way". Talk about an adrenaline dump.
