Magazine holding >10 rounds

Does the NYS high capacity magazine law prohibit magazines for rimfires (10/22 and such) from exceeding 10 rounds or does that only apply to centerfire rifles?

Wow - can't believe no one knew the answer to this question. Well, I took the time to look into the law more closely and the answer is.........................

No post-ban magazines, in any caliber (not even the little 22's) can exceed the 10 round limit. The possession of any such magazine in NYS is a Class D FELONY!

All firearms in NYS are limited to 10 rounds - and that's not fair to us law-abiding gun owners! 

If those boys from Pennsylvania, Tennessee, or Kentucky (who have no 10 round restriction) ever decided to invade New York State... we'd be hard pressed to defend ourselves against such capacity superiority.

Oh... and the criminals - don't forget to limit them to 10-round clips too NYS!!!!

I've wondered that same question VJP... even asked a dealer once (he just said, "This one is.")

Does all this mean that the old .22 that my Dad handed down to me is no longer legal to manufacture and sell? It's an old Marlin bolt action with a tubular magazine that holds up to 20 .22 shorts. It's an old critter, and no doubt is definitely a "pre-ban" gun and magazine system, but it is hard to believe that anyone could have such a messed up mind that they would believe that such a gun is some kind of evil "people-killer" ;D . These gun-control nuts are really out of control aren't they (and getting away with it too).

Hey Doc, Welcome Back!

I think the law specifies it must be a "detachable" magazine as well.  So a tube feed rifle is OK to have.
