i've been out a few times haven't found any yet.

Most here are still carrying. Course there are those bucks that broke them off fighting or getting them caught in a tree and snapping them off. Last year most carried at least one through January. JMO, but I would not waste my time looking for sheds now. But hey, it is never a waste of time being out there! And you never know what you might find or learn.

I keep them going all winter, and shift to turkey (gobblers)  in April and May...once the antlers start coming out...in end of May...June, I set them for bucks at licking branches. Pretty much year 'round.

I run about a dozen cameras, some old some new. But they are all powered with rechargeables. I could not afford to use disposable batteries...besides being expensive they are bad for the environment. I run all rechargeables...some of my older cams used D's and I still have a few running that use C's but most now are AA's. I have two battery chargers plugged in and rotate my batteries as I do my memory cards. I get hundreds of camera checks out of the rechargeables...some last for years.  I wait for them to go on sale at the local drugstores...or get them off Amazon when there is a great deal. So my main cost is gasoline! One thing I have found out is that you need a good battery charger...one that charges slowly. Some of the new ones that come with the batteries charge too quickly and the charges don't last.

I assume you also keep track of doe. Do you ever take a deer that you haven't had on camera?

Well, I keep track of doe, but more in general terms because they are so hard to positively ID. But through a season, I do ID  doe with twin fawns, or one fawn. Or if it has a distinguishing mark like a wound, extra white markings, etc.

As to ID-ing deer I tag...Hard to say about the does, probably i have them on camera since I run the cameras in the same locales I hunt for years. But as for antlered bucks in the last 10 years...I have most, not all of them on camera. Sometimes I hunt in areas where I do not put cams and get lucky. But I'm sure, somebody probably has them on camera! Most everyplace I go in town, somebody pulls out their phone and shows me their cam shots.

Caught this interesting holdover bachelor group hierarchy sequence on my cams today. In this short clip, a junkyard buck with a roman nose tries to back down an older 8 pt. buck with a scared muzzle and torn ears. Just when it appears as if the 8 pt. has decided to show his dominance ...both bucks quickly leave the high ground as the wide 6 pt. shows up.
