growalot
They did an excellent job showing how to use a diaphragm... That said, take that advise and try without the mouth call and engage your vocals it's all done the same way. nyslowhand
Try this link: FYI - 1st 7min is about diaphragm use. http://www.growingdeer.tv/archive/category/hunting-and-tactics#/how-to-use-a-diaphragm-mouth-call-clover-food-plots-and-more The main thing they forgot to mention is trimming, bending, fitting the OTC call to the contour of your mouth before you can effectively use one like they are instructing. growalot
Good point...something I wouldn't know because I can't use them and use my natural voice. I have a strong gag reflex and they make me gag...
landtracdeerhunter
I can bring in hens galore, and a jake or two. Never a tom. They always hang up.
growalot
clarify...are you talking diaphragm or natural?
landtracdeerhunter
Natural vocals. Hunt out of a tent so movement isn't an issue.
growalot
Oh I call in tons of hens with my vocals. OMG they are more fun than the Toms in my book...As I've said in the past I have actually gotten them literally hopping mad..lol but they always bring in the Toms...only single Toms I've ever killed were the ones closer to noon when hens are on nests, that or over hen decoys
landtracdeerhunter
I like to use different sounds once the birds come in to see what kind of a reaction. Usually, they just stop and look out of the side of their heads. The jakes will sometime bump into the hens, with a peck reaction back. Had one hen, most likely the dominate, get after other hens chasing the others with warning sounds including the jake. Their is something to learn in every encounter.
