Question on kerosene

Well I couldn't find my answer online so I'll ask here.

 

Neighbor gave me a blue kerosene can.

 

Checked it out and they had gas in it.

 

Can I just flush this with water for a couple hours. Then dry it. And return it to storing kerosene?

I wouldn't bother with the water.. just empty the gas out and you are good to go. The tiny amount of gas left will not affect anything that burns kerosene... If you are still worried , leave the top off the can after emptying it. The remnants left will evaporate..

Putting water in it would be worse than leaving it alone.  A little gasoline (and it will all be evaporated anyway) won't hurt a can of diesel, kerosene, fuel oil, whatever.  Let 'er rip.
