Carbon Odor Absorbers for Storage

Recommended Posts

So I have a scentlok tote I bought a few years ago on sale for like $40. I love it. It stacks, it's waterproof, durable and seems to do a good job locking out odors. On prime day this year I saw that they were selling 4 of the exact same tote for $100. The only difference is that they don't come with the carbon odor absorber. This thread isn't about discussing the effectiveness of carbon on odors please :).

So I can buy the pad for $20, but I'm wondering if anyone has used something like this in their bags and totes? Or has any other recommendations for what you use. I'm also not interested in cover scents, thanks.

I don't even use the pad that came with my scentlok tote.  Not sure I could find it.  I was always told you have to "recharge" the carbon which seemed like way more effort than its worth.  But for $20 its not much of a gamble.

I use ozonics a few times a year in my hunting room but I would be cautious about using it regularly if you have expensive gear that you don't want to replace.  After being altered to the issue and reading up on it some, it can destroy rubber and elastics.  Saw some pics that didn't look good and I know Sitka warns against it.  made me decide against a tote with ozonics.

yeah. I throw the pad and all my carbon gear in the dryer on high for 45 minutes at the beginning of the season per the instructions. how long that lasts and if it's worth it, who knows?

I think I'll order one of those. I'll try it in my hockey bag, if it can eliminate those odors it will be worth it! If I use it in my hunting bin I'll probably need to take outsome of the extra clothes I pack in there, the bin is stuffed and I don't think the ozone thingy will be able to circulate air effectively?

That will be the ultimate test. Throw your gloves in a bin with it
