Steve D
New York Democratic Brooklyn Senator introduces bill to add social media and internet searches as part of the background check for new pistol permit applicants AND RENEWALS. NY Senate Bill 9191: https://13wham.com/news/local/state-bill-would-review-social-media-internet-as-part-of-background-checks Kevin S Parker 21st District. We need to contact our senators and ask them to not support or vote for the bill. I am sure it is only the beginning of many to come. https://www.nysenate.gov/senators/kevin-s-parker
Rattler
Anyone with any "common sense" still think "Universal Background Checks" would be a good idea? This is the type of crap they would do to make sure most people get denied.

And since we are now on the "five year renewal" plan it would also jeopardizes renewals and expand the scope of "background" checks to include almost anything.
ADK Native
Pistol permits are issued with condition condition number one that states "It is revocable at any time." Could a new background check be mandated every five years to include what you say on social media? I suspect that with Democrats in power come January 2019, more useless gun laws will be enacted. Laws that will do much of nothing to reduce or eliminate gun violence except make gun control supporters happy,
Rattler
There is nothing to fear on the federal level, since the Senate is controlled by the GOP and will not endorse any anti-gun bills supported by the house. Even if they did, it's not likely Trump would sign it. The state governments are the worry. Many are rabidly anti-gun and are willing to pass all sorts of crazy gun laws, banking on them never being challenged in the Supreme Court.
