Elmo
Anyone bowfish the Delaware River? I saw some major size carps there the last time I went camping in the area. I don't have access to a boat so I would have to rent and the only places I know just rent canoes or kayaks. I figure I won't be able to stand on a canoe without tipping it over and wouldn't shooting the bow while sitting put you at an angler that will make the arrow skip like a rock? Are there any other place near NYC that one can bowfish?
Pygmy
I agree that trying to shoot a bow out of a canoe or kayak would be difficult and also dangerous. However, you could use the canoe to get to backwaters, eddies, etc. where you could get out of the boat and wade or stalk the banks and get some shooting. I do a lot of river fishing, either wet wading or using hip boots, and I see carp all the time that i could shoot with a bow.
Red
ive bow fished out of a kayak twice its a lot more difficult but was able to do it. ive also kayaked to islands in the river in buffalo then got out and walked the shore in the coves and had good luck doing this. i cant wait another week to go for bow fishing season. martin
Haven't heard of any area near nyc to go. I go up to bash-a-kill and you can fish them up there. A boat would be better though.
