Skunks. How do you handle them?

Some may have seen me post I am taking up a little trapping. I really don't have any concerns dispatching anything I may be targeting, releasing  or coming across as a byproduct catch. I do have some concerns on old Pepe Le Pew though. I do not intend on using any box traps so I am wondering how others handle them. (Mostly coil spring, body gripping and DP's) I have been reading a ton and on this topic I have heard everything from just talking calming to them as you approach (yeah I don't think so), head of lung shots, syringe pole with acetone and a host of other hair brained options.  General consensus seems to be there is no guaranteed way to avoid a spray. what is you experience?

Equip your .22 with a scope, sight that sucker in to hit dimes at 40 yrds,  that way it I'll never know what happened. :-)
